Who we are

XeoPlayer is made by Yurii Tarnavskyi (“we”, “us”). This policy explains how the XeoPlayer app for iPhone, and this website, handle information. If you have a question about it, write to yurii.tarnavskyi.xeo@gmail.com.

What we collect

Nothing. XeoPlayer has no servers of ours behind it, no accounts and no sign-in. It contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting tools, and no third-party code that collects data. The app makes no network connections of its own.

That means we don’t know who you are, what you listen to, which files you have or how you use the app. We couldn’t share or sell that information even if we wanted to, because we never have it.

What stays on your iPhone

To work, XeoPlayer keeps a few things on your iPhone. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else.

  • Your audio files and folders, in XeoPlayer’s storage on your iPhone.
  • Where you left off: the track that was playing and your position in it, the folder it came from, and the folder you last browsed. These are kept in the app’s preferences.
  • A few facts in the iOS Keychain: the date XeoPlayer first ran, your purchase status, whether the free period has ended, and whether the app has already asked you for a rating.

The Keychain items are not synced to iCloud. They stay on your iPhone even after you delete XeoPlayer. That is on purpose: reinstalling the app keeps your purchase and doesn’t start the free period over. They are removed when you erase your iPhone (Settings › General › Transfer or Reset iPhone › Erase All Content and Settings).

Deleting XeoPlayer removes your audio files and the app’s preferences from your iPhone.

Backups

Depending on your own settings, iOS may include XeoPlayer’s files and preferences in your iCloud backup or in a backup on your computer. Those backups are made and kept by Apple or by you, under Apple’s privacy policy, not by us.

Importing over Wi-Fi

While the Import screen is open, your iPhone runs a small web server on your local network (on port 8080) and shows an address such as http://192.168.1.24:8080, along with a QR code. When you open that address in a browser on the same network, files travel straight from that browser to your iPhone. They never pass through our servers or the internet, and we never see them.

The import page has no password: while the Import screen is open, any device on the same network that opens the address can send audio to your iPhone. Use Wi-Fi import on networks you trust, such as your home network. The server stops as soon as you close the Import screen.

Importing from the Files app

When you choose files or folders from the Files app inside XeoPlayer, the app can read only what you pick. It copies the audio files it can play into its storage on your iPhone and leaves everything else where it was. If you pick something in iCloud Drive that isn’t downloaded yet, iOS downloads it first; that happens between your iPhone and Apple.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details, your name, your email address or your Apple ID. XeoPlayer checks your purchases on your iPhone itself, using Apple’s StoreKit, which talks to the App Store on your behalf. Apple handles that information under Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Ratings

After you’ve used XeoPlayer for a few days, it may ask once whether you’d like to rate it, using Apple’s standard rating dialog. Apple decides whether the dialog actually appears. Any rating or review you leave goes to Apple and is shown on the App Store under Apple’s terms.

Information Apple shares with developers

Apple gives developers aggregated reports about downloads and sales. If you have turned on Share With App Developers (Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may also share anonymous crash reports and usage data with us. None of this identifies you, and you can turn that sharing off at any time in the same place.

When you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you put in your message. We use them only to answer you, which, in the language of the GDPR, is our legitimate interest in replying to you. We don’t share them with anyone, and we delete them when you ask us to.

How long we keep information

The app sends us nothing, so there is nothing from it for us to keep. We keep support emails only for as long as we need them to help you, and we delete them sooner if you ask.

Security

Everything XeoPlayer keeps stays on your iPhone, where it is protected by iOS and by your passcode. The one thing worth knowing is the Wi-Fi import page: while the Import screen is open, other devices on your network can reach it, as explained above. Close the Import screen when you’re done, and it stops.

Children

XeoPlayer doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR in the European Union, the UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act give you rights over your personal data, including the rights to access, correct, export and delete it. Because the app sends us no personal data, we hold nothing from it that those rights could apply to. If you have emailed us, you can ask us at any time to show you or delete what you sent.

We do not sell or share personal information.

This website

This website uses no cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party scripts. Its fonts are served from the site itself rather than from a font service. The site is hosted on Firebase Hosting, a Google service. Like any web host, it processes technical details of each request, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the site and keep it secure. Google handles that data under its own privacy policy. Links to the App Store take you to Apple’s website.

Changes to this policy

If XeoPlayer or this website ever starts handling information differently, we will update this page, and the date at the top, before the change takes effect.
